Finding a new luxury apartment and moving can bring a great deal of stress related to searching for a new home, applying for residence, then arranging the move and packing up your entire household. During the apartment search process, you need to get all the required documentation ready for approval for your new residence, but you also need to consider forwarding your mail, starting and stopping your utilities and other services, in addition to packing up your possessions. Here are some tips and insight to help you more easily make the transition from applying for a new home and moving into your new place.
Prepare Your Documentation
Once you find the apartment you want to rent, whether it is a luxury apartment, furnished business apartment, or a traditional unfurnished apartment home, you will need to apply for residency and get approval from the property manager. Be sure to bring your state-issued identification, which can be a requirement to tour a property.
If you have any pets, you will need to know their breed, size, and possibly provide a photo to the property manager. Many upscale apartment communities like to have specific requirements and regulations for new residents, but it helps make the property and the experience of all residents better, overall.
Fill out an application for residency, and you may also need to provide proof of your income to verify that you can afford the rent on your new home. Often, a property manager will want to make sure your monthly income is at least three times the amount of the rent, for example. So, if you are applying to rent an apartment that is $5,000 per month, your income would need to be at least $15,000 each month. Talk to the property manager for their requirements and it will help you understand their criteria. You may also need to grant permission for the manager to run a background and credit check to make sure you don't have any history that may be in opposition to their residency criteria.
Arrange For Moving and Utility Transfer
When it is time to pack up your possessions and move into your new place, the more help you can arrange, the better off and less-stressed you will be. Arrange for a moving service, or a more full-service concierge moving service to give you just the right amount of help.
You can hire a moving company to take care of all the details of the move, including arranging for transport of your pets, baby grand piano, and your vehicle collection, for example. In addition to packing and moving your household, your moving service can stop and start all your utilities and home services, such as internet, and cleaning services, and change your mailing address to forward your mail. And if you are worried about paying for a higher subscription service at your new place, your concierge movers can even shop around for the best deal for you.Share
