Fill out an application for residency, and you may also need to provide proof of your income to verify that you can afford the rent on your new home. Often, a property manager will want to make sure your monthly income is at least three times the amount of the rent, for example. So, if you are applying to rent an apartment that is $5,000 per month, your income would need to be at least $15,000 each month. Talk to the property manager for their requirements and it will help you understand their criteria. You may also need to grant permission for the manager to run a background and credit check to make sure you don't have any history that may be in opposition to their residency criteria.
